Intro to Verbatim Theatre

Service Description

This workshop introduces the core concepts underpinning Verbatim Theatre: stories about experience, the process of interviewing and translating stories into performance. With an explicit focus on the elements of movement, role and language, this workshop uses a series of simple drama activities to represent the full process of creating verbatim theatre. Students are guided through a reflection on the ethics of verbatim theatre practice, the intentions that underpin telling stories about real people, and engage with a variety of conventions used in verbatim.
