Devising in Forum Theatre

Service Description

Forum Theatre is a core component of Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, engaging students with political theatre in applied contexts. This workshop will explore the key components of Forum Theatre; The Joker, the situation of oppression and the call of ‘magic’. Based on group discussion the students will choose an issue to frame their exploration of the form, and devise a short ‘real’ scene. Collaboratively the students will be led through the process of transforming this scene from the ‘real’ to the ‘ideal’, experiencing the role of the spect-actor and reflecting on the form.
